Pajaro Valley Unified School District through the Healthy Start Program has six school based Resource Centers
where Students in Transition, Foster Youth and their families received a variety of support services. Once referred or identified, students, and often their parents or caregivers, may be directed to local agencies working
cooperatively with Healthy Start.

Students receive the following services; school enrollment (Pre-Kinder—12th), health insurance enrollment,
CalFresh enrollment, assistance with completing forms, free breakfast & lunch at school, transportation and
in-depth case-management. Information & Referrals to medical, dental, counseling, housing, educational programs and food.

Students in Transition are children, youth and families that find themselves homeless. Healthy Start performs at
length interviews to identify families who lack adequate housing, i.e. share the housing of others due to financial
hardship (doubled, tripled-up in a home), living in a car, shelter, hotel or motel.
Healthy Start Referral & Affidavit of Non-Permanent Residence: English/ Spanish
All students are referred and encourage to participate in the After School Program.
