Latine/x Heritage Month

PVUSD is pleased to recognize the contributions of Latine/x Americans to the United States and celebrate the group's heritage and culture.  September 15 is set as the starting date for the month as it is important for many reasons. It is the independence anniversary of Latin American countries El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Additionally, the independence days of Mexico and Chile fall on September 16 and September 18, respectively.  Dia de la Raza or Columbus Day also falls within this month, on October 12.  As stated by President Biden, "National Hispanic Heritage Month is an important reminder of how much strength we draw as a Nation from our immigrant roots and our values as a Nation of immigrants." Pajaro Valley Unified School District will commit to a continued effort to honor Latine/x Heritage during this month and throughout the school year to enhance equity and diversity, through art, literature, and celebrations of the diversity within our Latine/x community.
