SELPA is extremely proud to share that one of our students, Patricia Yazmin Martinez-Barrera, has received the highest award at her school: Student of the Year for Freedom Elementary School. Mr. Miller, Patricia's Special Day Class Teacher, shared with the board on Tuesday Oct. 10th just how proud he was of Patricia and how deserving she was of this award. Patricia has not only excelled in all academic areas, but has shown tremendous growth in character- demonstrating an overwhelming empathy towards her peers. She has a wonderful eagerness to help, teacher and peers alike, and has taken particular interest in her peers new to the class. She has shown a positive attitude at all times and never gives up, even when faced with challenges.

SELPA is so proud of you, Patricia!
